Breton Bay Cashmere Throw and Pillow from Ralph Lauren

Who: Breton Bay Cashmere Throw and Pillow from Ralph Lauren
What: 22x 22 Throw Pillow and a 54 x 72 suede trimmed throw
Where: With the blue and white color combination, these accessories of course work perfectly at the coast.  But with a little creativity, the pattern would also lend some flexibility in an Alpine inspired mountain decor
When: These items would be great for a Living Room or Den. The size of the throw pillow is substantial enough to sit on its' own in a club chair or paired with a slightly smaller 20" or 18" pillow.
Why: What drew me to these items was the crisp color combination.  It's hard to go wrong with blue and white and the range of blues allows you to work within a variety of blue hues!

Dining, With a Hurricane!

With summer's arrival, eating outdoors has become a weekly occurrence here in New York City ... it was a long winter and I think I can speak for us all when I say it's so nice to be outside!

I'm fortunate to have a great rooftop terrace and my friends and I love to grill, bring rose and laugh and talk until late into the night...

Other than fresh flowers and great food, the perfect complement to any al fresco dining is a great hurricane lantern...candlelight is the best light, even in the concrete jungle!  Find a few of my favorites below .... bon appetit!

Cerused for Summer

I'm working with a client right now on a beachside home and we're mixing it up with our decor.  While the appeal to stick to navy and white for a truly nautical look is there, we're going more royal blue and orange ... and the key to pulling this all together will be using a cerused oak dining table.  The wood tones will work great with the complementary color palette of orange and blue.  With the cerused finish on the oak, the table lends itself to a more casual installation.  Take a peek below to see where our design is headed!

Space Saving: It's All in the Details

Living in a NYC studio apartment has taught me to live simply ... and by simply, I mean I'm pretty good with getting rid of clutter and keeping things organized.  No pack rat here!

It has also taught me to be pretty creative when it comes to space saving and space planning ... I take pride in the fact that I can comfortably seat seven in my tiny living area!

So with all this space saving in mind, two products recently came onto my radar that you need to know about:

The Ranger Stool from Scout Regalia is fantastic ... a little cubby for your purse, a little hook for your coat.  Every restaurant should beeline for this barstool!

Pottery Barn's Wallmount Drying Rack.  How great is the accordion arm that pulls out when you need to dry items and pushes back when you don't.  Who else can remember those rickety wooden drying racks that look like they could collapse with a simple sneeze?  Throw in a shelf and this rack is golden!

Enjoy!

Favorite Find Friday: The Veritas Crystal Coupe Glasses

As a champagne fan, I'm always on the lookout for beautiful champagne glasses.  While some flutes grab my eye, the classic coupe is still my vessel of choice and the Veritas collection from Riedel fits the ticket.

As my good friend Christian always says "Bubbles, darling" and cheers to the weekend!

Just Hanging Around: Stylish Birdfeeders by Joe Papendick

If you're anything like me, one of the best parts of spring's arrival is sleeping with the windows open and hearing the birds first thing in the morning.  Okay, let's be honest, in NYC, I'm not sleeping with the window open and the only noise I seem to hear are fire trucks and helicopters .... but when I go home to North Carolina, the chirping starts bright and early ... and I love it!

I've always been lucky that my parents taught me to help take care of these little winged friends.  I can clearly remember one chore was to fill the bird feeder.  Back in the day, bird feeders were usually quite basic and functional: a clear cylinder, maybe a little ledge...no prime real estate here!  But these days, my how stylish they are!  With various designs from Joe Papendick, no longer are these houses simple structures for seeds, but rather modern sculptures that add a little style to your bird watching!
