Favorite Find Friday: Circa Who

As you might have guessed, I'm all about pagodas, foo dogs, bamboo and lattice work these days ...anything to bring Chinoiserie into my design work!

One vendor that I recently discovered was Tracy Deramus' shop in West Palm Beach, Circa Who!

Tracy's philosophy is simple: don't worry about when it was made (circa) or the designer origin (who), if you love, buy it ... and as you can see below, there are many things to fall in love with!

On The Spot: Bell Jar Table Lamp

It's funny how things change as you get older ...take for example, the magazines that you read.  As a child, teenager and young adult, Southern Living was always my mother's magazine.  However, in recent months, I find that I turn to Southern Living more and more for vendors, homes and receipes with a southern flair.

In last month's issue, I came across a GREAT find from on-line retailer Horne.

This lovely little bell jar table lamp is designed and manufactured by Southern Lights Electric...a vendor that was, quite honestly, new to me!  I love the bulb, I love the simplicity of the design and at $125, I love the price!

Southern Living and Southern Lights Electric, you've done good!

Happy Wednesday, ya'll!

Easy As 1-2-3

In the last few years (and largely in part because of my decorating time with Charlotte Moss) I have become a huge fan of chinoiserie.  I find the imagery so much fun and fun to decorate with!  Foo Dogs, beautiful floral screens/wallpapers and in particular pagodas, are simply wonderful!

With today's feature from Linden Blue, E-Design For the Home, I've taken a great concept photo featuring amazing pagoda beds!  With the Easy As 1-2-3 feature, I've found a couple of decorative items to help satisfy your pagoda fetish and bring a bit of the chinois into your home!

Happy Monday!

On The Spot: The Hidden Door

A little hide-and-seek for you as we go into the weekend ....can you find the pair of closet doors in this picture?

I will say, doors can on occasion provide decorating obstacles ...so why not just cover them up and blend them right in?

Happy Weekend!

The Unexpected Seat

Do you have a space where one might have a light bite to eat, play a game of chess or write poignant notes to friends and family?

Then consider taking a dining table and removing a few chairs and replacing it with a sofa or loveseat.   You quickly combine function and comfort in the seating arrangement ...and its a bit unexpected and who doesn't like that?

New York Cottages and Gardens Magazine

There has been some exciting news in the air this past week as the September issue of NYC&G came to newsstands and yours truly was named a 2012 Rising Star!

I'm over the moon to be included in the magazine and writer Miranda Agee did a great job capturing what my design aesthetic and "personality" is about!

Hope you have a Happy Week ...I know I will!

A Roof Over ....The Bed?

Hopefully this Saturday you were able to find a little time to sleep in.  Imagine how cozy it would be to feel a bit more enclosed in bed ...enter, the canopy.

No longer does this grand installation belong only in palaces and castles, but should be under consideration for at least one bedroom in the house!  It's a great way to liven up a space ...and to convince one to stay in bed just a bit longer ... but did you really need convincing?

Happy Saturday!

Doting on the Desk

I came across a brilliant solution for when you need a workspace, but space is hard to come by!

This drop down desk works so well as part of the bookcase.  I know I love to be surrounded by my books when writing and working!

Have a great weekend!

On The Spot: Decorative Painting

Have a good artist in your address book?  Looking for a way to spice up a white wall?  Try a decorative scene hand painted to meet your needs from a decorative point of view and the needs of the architecture ...I LOVE the way the tree branch starts on the wall and goes to the ceiling.  Gorgeous!

Happy Wednesday!

Decorating Detective

Mondays are going to be the day where I shamelessly promote my new online decorating business via features that promote the different packages...I'll do my best to keep it entertaining and not too painful!

My first feature, Decorating Detective, is aimed at helping you identify and purchase items that you see on TV, in movies or in magazines.  With my Online Design Consultation package, I will hunt down the object of your desire and if I can't find it, I'll be sure to come up with some close options.

So on that note, let's talk Kardashian!  Whether you love them or hate them, at some point, you've talked about them!  For me, I do have to say, I like the design of a lot of their homes.  They are chic, stylish and usually black and white with lots of mirrors! Khloe's office chair in particular is FANTASTIC!  Chevron patterns are hot right now and knowing that it is in lush velvet makes it that much more desirable!

I have found the fabric and it is a trade only item, so if you'd like to punch up some of your upholstery, visit me at www.lindenblueedesign.com, purchase the Online Design Consultation package and we'll make all your chevron dreams come true!

My Dream Home

Once in awhile, I can find the time to decorate for myself!  While I'm still in the concept stage of my dream house, these two images are firmly placed on my concept board.  I have long been a fan of paneled walls, painted in a soft white.  In fact, the more detail in the paneling and crown molding, the more I crave it!

To offset the traditional tone of the paneling, I would choose to come in with more modern and streamlined furniture.  Top it off with tonal hues of cool colors and voila, you're in my dream home!

Happy Saturday!

Introducing Linden Blue

You may have noticed that over the last few weeks, the blog has taken on a new identity!  I'm happy to say, the launch of Linden Blue, E-Design For the Home happened this week and I couldn't be more thrilled with the response.

Thank you to all who have helped support this endeavor (I sure do have great friends!).  Thank you to Oscar and Mom for proofreading time and time again and a big THANK YOU to Maleka Vrana and Remy Steiner for their hard work in bringing the site to life!

I hope you enjoy visiting and using the site as much as I enjoy decorating!  My hope is that with this website, decorating and working with a decorator becomes easier and more accessible.  I've designed five online packages tailored to meet a variety of decorating needs.

So on that note, what better way to start decorating than with a discount!  Hope to work with you soon!  Happy Weekend!

On The Spot: Island Paradise

Just came across two images that are great when trying to spec the lighting above your island.  Both have great attributes and appeal to a variety of aesthetics!

Happy Wednesday!

I love the nod to tradition that this pendent brings ..the sterling silver and black shade are the perfect "pop" in this kitchen!

These crystal globes are fantastic!  I wonder if they can see into the future?

Bunk Beds

Bunk Beds, are fun, they're playful and sometimes they are the only option in tight spaces.  If you're thinking about building in some beds, you're sure to find inspiration below!

Great idea for when a playroom needs to also host sleepover guests!

Serene sleeping at your fingertips!

Sucy cozy sophistication, yet quite playful!

Great graphic detail along the top ..notice the inner edges have been painted turquoise ... Love!

Wallpaper Wonders

Wallpaper has certainly been making a comeback on the design scene.  The patterns, color palettes are range from being quite fun, to simply stunning!

Have some fun this Saturday as you browse through some of my favorite wallpapered rooms!

What a fun, bold pattern ...only gets better with the tomato red settee!

We all know I'm a big fan of handpainted chinoiserie papers.  I love them the most when the background color is a bit unexpected and this peacock blue shade fits the ticket!  What a great complement to the red undertones of the mahogany furniture!

Fun, Fun, Fun detail for bookcases!

Black, white with pops of pink and peach ...great color combination!

Pattern upon Pattern upon Pattern!

I love the softness of the trellis wallpaper with the pink peonies ...so fresh!
