Its All About Curves

One question that I repeatedly get from clients is how to treat arched windows with window treatments.  While there is no right or wrong answer, below are a few great solutions!

This solution would need some advance planning with your architect or contractor.  If you look closely, the ceiling detail has stopped short of the window in order to create a pocket for the hardware and drapery topper.  This solution would work well if you do not like the look of drapery hardware or you have a large expanse of window to cover and need to utilize a track mounted system.

This is a pretty straight forward drapery panel installation.  While you have a variety of places that you can put the rod, I like this image because when you take the rod to just below the ceiling line/crown work (rather than the top of the arch or slightly above the arch) you emphasize the height of the room.
Shutters are also a good way to go when you need maximum privacy.

This is a great solution if you need to block light and visibility with ease, while still letting light in through the arched portion of the window: Roman shades mounted directly onto the door

There's nothing wrong with doing nothing!  Happy Decorating!

Chevron Heaven

Whether it be on the floor or on the wall, I have always loved this graphic pattern ...a fun little twist to the stripes I recently spoke about!  Feminine or masculine, gray or seafoam green, this pattern works well in a variety of interiors!

On The Spot: Colorful Graphic Wallpaper

I've been asked recently to spruce up a teenage girl's room, without too much fuss or re-decorating.  I told my client "wallpaper is back and it's great"!  These graphic prints provided the best concept for finalizing the plan!

No Rainy Day Blues in these Interiors!

As I sit here and daydream amongst the summer showers, I often find that Blue is one of the most friendly and inviting palettes to use in decor.  Whether you mix it with white, go monochromatic with navy or add a splash of acid green for excitement, Blue goes well with everything!

Not so bad having the Monday Blues with these images below, is it?

Tile Talk

No longer just for bathrooms and powder rooms, wall tile is gaining popularity in a variety of installations!  As we enjoy the lazy days of summer, enjoy a few of my tile inspirations!

I love how this stove is set back into a niche ....the tile provides the perfect backdrop to the copper pots and navy stove!

Great detail for columns in your outdoor spaces, wether it be in a poolhouse or poolside!

Not only am I in love with this dress, but the tile detail on the wall is the perfect "layer" in this staircase.

I love how this tile brings drama inside the fireplace.  Lovely detail!

Who needs a headboard when you can have a wall of tile?

Daydreaming about Dramatic Beds

Today, let's not just dream about sleeping late tomorrow, let's dream about where we're sleeping late tomorrow!

Beds can be a great place for decor "oomph" in the bedroom.  It can be a daring bedframe, it can be dramatic bedhangings or it can be bedhangings that create the bedframe ....no matter the solution, these bedroom inspirations are sure to bring pleasant dreams!

Happy Weekend!

What shall I pick as  my favorite thing about this image: the chinoiserie wallpaper, the black and gold color palette or the pagoda bedframe?  Why pick one, when you can have it all!

Great way to soften up an upholstered headboard, without having to commit to bedhangings on all four corners!

A great detail for when a typical canopy bed isn't in the cards ...install drapery rods on the ceiling and hang drapery panels for the same effect!

Double the pleasure, double the fun!

Simplicity in color palette and pattern creates a very chic, yet cozy bedroom!

I love the shirred fabric detail on the underside of the canopy and down the "headboard" portion of the bed.

Who said a bed had to be in a bedroom?

On The Spot: Rug Appeal

One of the first places decorators start when specifying items for a room is the rug.  I came across two images recently that have great patterns and whether you go big or small with the design, these two rugs certainly provide the visual emphasis in these living rooms.

Happy Monday!

Eclectic Elegance Around the Dining Table

I love the unexpected in decorating!  Certainly the mentality of "mix and match" uses the unexpected to pull the room together: whether it is mixing finishes or using different chairs around the dining table, never ever, ever decorate by being too matchy matchy!

Enjoy the week!

Striking Stripes

Want a little punch to your walls?  Stripes, the classic pattern, can be installed in such a way, that boring is the last thing you would ever describe the finished product!

Whether its the bold use of black and white, or installing the stripes horizontally, the effect is mesmerizing!

Enjoy the weekend!
