Guest Blogger from Design Shuffle

As I fly back over the pond to New York, I'd like to pass the reins for today's post to Design Shuffle, a fantastic website for designers and design inspired people alike.  Enjoy!

Hi all, I'm Susi, a writer for Design Shuffle, a fabulous social media site where you can browse through tens of thousands of photos from designers from around the world.

I am excited to be guest blogging for Lindsay today. Her photos of her world travels are so gorgeous. My guest post today is inspired by her photos and focuses on unexpected textiles in interior design like Ikats from Bali and Suzanis from Turkey, as well as Indian inspired paisley and fabrics based on Florentine marbleized papers. Such an international mix! Hope you enjoy!

Ikat Design

Ikat is one of the hottest patterns and textiles in design today. The traditional Balinese fabric can work in traditional and modern decors.

Suzani Living Room Design

Like Ikat, Suzani is a bold and typically colorful pattern. Its graphic quality even looks good framed as artwork. Did you see Lindsay's post on gorgeous Suzanis in the Tachkent collection by Pierre Frey? http://lindsayhair.blogspot.com/2011/08/tachkent-tuesday.html

Love the blue and white Ikat print on the ottomans in this casual living room designed by Lindsay. Ikat is a nice addition to the other patterns in the room.

Suzani Chair Design

Suzani pattern makes for a bold pattern on this arm chair. Bright colors and bold pattern works with the simple lines of the chair; the two don't compete.

Ikat Zig Zag Design

I loved the marbleized fabric ottomans from Janey Whitehorn (see Lindsay's post about them here:†http://lindsayhair.blogspot.com/2011/03/marblized-world-of-janey-whitehorn.html). Marbleized fabrics blend Ikats's pattern with a loose zig zag that is another current trend. It looks lovely in this stunning bedroom design.

Hand Blocked Paisley Design

Hand blocked paisley is popping up on textiles and wallpaper. More traditional paisley, inspired by 19th century shawls, is also a hot design trend.

Suzani Bench Fabric

Suzani fabric is used to upholster this bench. Love that each of the cushions is different from the others, a nice twist.

Ikat Tile Pattern

In today's interior design, Ikat pattern extends beyond textiles. This gorgeous Ikat patterned wall is made of tile. So beautiful!
