Blooms Along Park Avenue

"Just living isn't enough," said the butterfly.  "One must also have sunshine, freedom, and a little flower."
                                                                 -Hans Christian Andersen

Park Avenue is in bloom with the temporary art installation by artist Will Ryman.

The installation, entitled "The Roses" features 38 giant rose blossoms, 20 individual rose petals and an assortment of brass insects up and down Park Avenue here in New York City.

The artist, who is known for combining fantasy with reality, used the flora to illustrate New York City's larger than life qualities.  To give you a sense of scale, the sculptures range between 3 and 25 feet high with blossoms that are 5 to 10 feet in diameter.

If you find yourself in the Big Apple before May 31st, a stroll through this "concrete garden" is certainly in order!

  1. I remember seeing lighting like the top fixture when I was in Sorrento, Italy, last year. It was in an old monastery turned hotel overlooking the sea. It brings back great memories. Thanks for posting!
