Designer's Guild Sofienberg

One of my favorite fabric houses out of the UK is Designer's Guild...their use of bold colors and patterns has always been a go to when working on my interiors.

Their latest collection, Sofienberg, does not disappoint ....

The large scale floral, pop of pink and stylized damask wallpaper are sure to find their way into many projects!

The Marblized World of Janey Whitehorn

While traveling through London recently, I came across British textile designer Janey Whitehorn's collection of marblized scarves and lampshades....what a great way to accessorize your lamps!

NYC Dining: Beauty and Essex

Heading out to dinner tonight at Beauty and Essex, the Lower East Side's newest hot spot... and while I'm curious to try tapas such as braised beef tamales, lobster bisque dumplings and oven braised chicken meatballs, I'm also so curious to see the interior!

This two story restaurant hides behind the facade of a pawn shop and once you get inside, the interior details are spectacular!

For the Love of the Chippendale Camelback

I've been coming across a lot of pieces and concepts that tip the hat to the Camelback profile made famous by furniture designer (and that's putting it mildly!) Thomas Chippendale during the early 1700's.

Classic Chippendale: camelback profile and ball and claw legs

A fun twist on a sofa from the Oscar de La Renta Home Collection from Century Furniture.

Candace Olson uses the profile in this great Living Room!

The subtle detail on the tub backsplash is an elegant detail in this bathroom.

A subtle twist on the bed headboard from designer Michael Smith

Scooch Over Please!

Banquette seating and tufting have been on my design plate for a few weeks now, so I just had to share!  It can serve as a great way to maximize seating, but keep in mind, it also means when one person moves, several people move.

As for tufting, you can achieve a very classic look... Use fun fabrics and a complementary nailhead or trim detail to modernize the look...

Charlotte Moss adds a cozy seating area in this Colorado residence

I love this for so many reasons!  The Chippendale camel back, the light gray upholstery, dark wood floors...and notice how the wall with the stair rail mimics the shape of the banquette ....love, love, love!

The warmth of the wood tone of the dining table is a great way to offset the otherwise cool color palette.  The shelf above the tufted banquette is also genius!

Great wallpaper, love the upholstery and the "ball and claw" side chairs mixed with a modern X based table!

It's All About the Drape

I've been completely fascinated with draped beds over the last few months, even installed one for myself!  There's such a variety of ways in which you can apply fabric around the bed, that whether you're heading a more traditional route or a more playful route, a draped bed can fit either scheme!

I love the simplicity of this...the softness of the bed drape provides a nice visual interest in a neutral aesthetic...Great fabric on the windows too!
This iconic bedroom Charlotte Moss designed for the Kips Bay Showhouse has such a delicate softness and floating the bed in the middle of the room is an innovative approach to space planning.

This playful vignette served as a concept of mine in a recent presentation.  The simplicity of the design allows the drape and valance to not only serve as window treatments, but frames the playful headboard...great use of an otherwise difficult space!

Architectural Digest features Sheryl Crow

The March 2011 issue of Architectural Digest featured Sheryl Crow's California home and I have to share a few pictures that will now join my concept binders!  Enjoy!

The infinity pool is fantastic!
The white tufted sectional, in a cream fabric on top of a sisal rug, provides a casual elegance to any living room.
If you look closely at the bookshelves, installing a large piece of art to the framework is a great way to multiply your decorative layers and obtain visual depth.
I love the black and white color palette, with the pop of red for the desk chair.
If you can look closely in the corner, a small decorative area rug makes for a great bath mat!
